Overview
MarginPatrol helps Shopify merchants monitor operating profit, product costs, shipping costs, payment fees, refunds, discounts, ad spend and profit alerts.
This page summarizes what information MarginPatrol expects to collect, how it is used, how long it is kept and what choices merchants have.
Data We Collect
MarginPatrol collects data needed to operate the service, including store identifiers, shop domain, store currency and timezone, orders and order financial fields, products and variants, product costs where available, refunds, transactions, shipping lines, discounts and app installation state.
If a merchant connects ad platforms, MarginPatrol may collect ad account identifiers, campaign identifiers, spend, selected metrics, timezone and sync status.
By default, MarginPatrol does not need customer names, customer emails, customer phone numbers, exact customer addresses or payment card data to calculate store profit.
How Data Is Used
Data is used to calculate operating profit, show profit breakdowns, detect profit leaks, send alerts and summaries, improve Data Quality, connect integrations, provide reports and exports, manage billing, protect security, provide support and comply with legal obligations.
Sharing
MarginPatrol does not sell merchant financial data.
Data may be processed by subprocessors that help operate the product, such as hosting, database, email, push notification, analytics, monitoring, support and merchant-connected integration providers.
Retention and Deletion
Retention depends on plan, feature, data type, merchant settings, legal requirements, uninstall state and deletion requests.
Exports should expire automatically after a short period unless otherwise configured.
MarginPatrol supports Shopify mandatory privacy webhooks for data requests and deletion requests.
Security
MarginPatrol is designed around encryption in transit, encryption at rest where supported, access controls, secret management, logging and monitoring, private notification modes and least-privilege staff access.
No system is perfectly secure, but MarginPatrol is designed to reduce unnecessary data exposure.
